1. Who we are
Translately is an independent translation app for iPhone. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@kraus.studio.
2. What data we collect
We collect the minimum possible — in practice, nothing that identifies you:
- No personal information. Translately requires no account, login, email, or registration.
- No tracking. We do not track you across apps or websites, and our App Store privacy manifest declares zero collected data types.
- No analytics SDKs. We do not embed third-party analytics or advertising frameworks (e.g. Firebase, Mixpanel, ad networks).
- No location data. Translately does not request or use your location.
3. Translation & your text
Translations are performed on your device using Apple's built-in Translation framework. The text you enter is processed by the system on your iPhone to produce a translation — it is not sent to our servers, and we never see or store it. The first time you use a language, iOS may download an on-device language pack from Apple.
4. Microphone & speech recognition
Voice input is optional. If you tap the microphone, Translately requests Microphone and Speech Recognition permission solely to transcribe what you say into text to translate. Transcription is handled by Apple's Speech Recognition; depending on your device and language, Apple may process audio to perform recognition under Apple's Privacy Policy. We never receive, upload, or store your audio. If you don't use voice input, no microphone access is requested.
5. Listening to translations
The "Listen" feature uses your device's built-in text-to-speech to read a translation aloud. This happens entirely on-device and involves no recording.
6. Subscriptions & payments
Translately offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (Translately Premium) through Apple's App Store via StoreKit. All billing and payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see, store, or process your payment details. Your subscription status is verified locally through Apple's StoreKit framework.
To manage or cancel, go to iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
7. Local storage
Your translation history and preferences are stored locally on your device only. We do not run a server-side account system or sync your data to our own cloud. You can clear your history at any time from the History tab.
8. Third-party services
The only third party involved is Apple — for on-device translation, speech recognition, and App Store subscription management. Your use of these services is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not integrate advertising networks, analytics services, or data brokers.
9. Children's privacy
Translately is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. Because we collect no personal data at all, Translately is inherently safe for users of all ages.
10. Data retention
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since we do not collect any, these rights are satisfied automatically. If you have a concern, contact us and we'll respond promptly.
12. Security
Because no personal data is transmitted to or stored by us, there is no data at risk on our end. All processing happens on your device, protected by iOS's built-in security model.
13. Changes to this policy
If we ever change our data practices, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Continued use of Translately after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
